This October, Friends of Clermont is excited to announce that we are partnering with Clermont State Historic Site and the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York to host a food drive this holiday season! After a successful growing season this summer, the Harvesting History program was able to donate the majority of our harvest to local food banks. As we prepare the garden for winter, we continue to support the Germantown Food Bank.
Non-perishable food items can be dropped off in the designated collection bin at the Visitor Center at 1 Clermont Avenue, Germantown during normal business hours (Thursday through Sunday from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.). The food drive is running from Tuesday, October 1 through Sunday, December 29. Needed items include: shelf-stable milk and dairy, cooking oils, canned meat (chicken and fish), canned vegetables and fruit, peanut butter and jelly, dry cereals, hearty canned soups and chilis, baby food, boxed pasta rice, stuffing mix, and other easily prepared meals.
If you are unable to donate food in person, but would still like to support the food drive, we are also accepting monetary donations. Any donation, big or small, is greatly appreciated and will have a significant impact on our community. All proceeds directly support the Germantown Food Bank and the communities they serve. The Friends of Clermont, Clermont State Historic Site, and the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York thank you for your support.
If you or someone you know needs food assistance, please visit the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York to find your nearest food pantry or soup kitchen.
